Elevate your online instruction with our Summer training opportunities!

Online Instruction Development Calendar

The Clemson Online Summer 2023 OID Calendar is published! Sign up for live virtual training and demonstrations covering various topics, from teaching and learning technology to organizing the foundations of an online course. Below is an outline of the topics we will offer training on over the summer.

As a reminder, registering ensures you receive a link to the recorded training even if you cannot attend.

Special iROAR Training

This year critical changes are coming for instructors reporting in iROAR on student activity in an online course. Register for Participation Confirmation in Online Courses on Thursday, August 10th, or Monday, August 21st, to learn more about new federal guidelines.

Learning and Teaching Technology

  • Kaltura Basics and Advanced – Take all four training sessions to receive a comprehensive introduction to Kaltura and its features and best practices.
  • Camtasia ’22 and ’23 – Learn what updates changed the video editing software between 2022 and 2023.
  • Quick Hit: Zoom Features – See what features Zoom offers to help make your synchronous meetings dynamic and engaging.

Canvas

  • Gradebooks and Weighted Grades – Learn how to properly set up your Canvas grade book to accurately reflect your syllabus grading policy.
  • Create Group and Peer Review Assignments – Join a workshop to build your online group assignments with a live demonstration.
  • Quick Hit: Canvas Quizzes and Academic Integrity – Learn how to ensure academic integrity within Canvas Quizzes and Turnitin’s AI writing detection feature.

Quality Course Design

  • Learning Objectives and Course Alignment – Learn about the foundation of quality course design and how to ensure your course elements effectively build on each other.
  • Design Principles for Learning – Learn about design principles that can enhance learner engagement with online course content and avoid distraction.
  • Make Your Canvas Site Beautiful – Apply those design principles after exploring the ready-made design features in the Design module in Clemson Online’s Faculty Resource Center.

Quality Matters for Summer Accelerate

Clemson Online is proud to announce new opportunities for instructors to gain experience in online course creation, teaching with Canvas, and the Quality Matters course review process. They include:

  • Online Course Bootcamp – last round starts May 8!
  • Improving Your Online Course (IYOC)
  • QM Essentials Review
  • COFFEE: House Blend

Quick Hits – Turnitin & ChatGPT

Thursday, April 27

Join this training session to learn how to use Turnitin’s new ChatGPT flagging service. You will learn more about ChatGPT, how Turnitin can detect text produced through AI, and how to interpret the flagging scores.

  • Facilitated by Gray Jackson, Learning Technology Specialist
  • Time: 3:30-4:00PM
  • Location: Zoom

A Zoom link will be emailed to registered participants, at least 24 – 48 hours before the day of the event. This session will be recorded, and all registered participants will receive a link to the recording. Contact James Butler with any questions about this session.
