Dillon Waters

Dillon Waters, Packaging Science Senior

Dillon Waters is currently a second-semester senior at Clemson University and will graduate in December 2022 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Packaging Science. He has been an active member in the “All In: Football Recruiting Design” Creative Inquiry (CI) for four semesters.

What are/were some of your favorite projects of the ones you’ve assisted with?

One of my favorite projects that I have worked on while in the CI was some paper pop-ups that feature iconic buildings around campus. I was extremely pleased with how they turned out and it was super cool to see iconic buildings around campus folded up on a simple sheet of cardstock.”

How would you like to see things continue into the future?

“For the future of the CI, I would love to see each semester be more successful than the previous, the same level of creativity and execution, and for us to continue to create amazing recruiting material that sets the bar for other football programs.”

Being involved in the Creative Inquiry for four semesters, Dillon experienced the growth of the program firsthand. At the beginning of the CI, he says the students struggled with their personal expectations of the experience, as well as what was expected of them. Throughout his experience, Dillon explains that he has seen tremendous growth in the organizational structure, consistency and focus of the projects. The students involved in the CI have been able to generate more complex ideas and projects, whereas before they focused on basic ideas and prototypes. The adaptation and growth of the program have allowed students to gain more in-depth knowledge about their skills and potential projects.

Throughout Dillon’s experience in the CI, he has expanded his creativity and knowledge of design. Working on these projects with mentors and other students has given him the opportunity to develop his communication skills in regard to projects and idea generation. Although the CI has taught him a significant amount of valuable knowledge, the most notable to him is “to take cost and ease of manufacturing and assembly into account when designing my projects.”

Dillon is an experienced professional who is currently looking for a full-time job following graduation. His experience in the Creative Inquiry has given him the necessary tools to be a valuable asset to the packaging industry.
