Thank You to Our Summer Intern!

A few months ago we introduced you to our summer intern Rhen Bennett. Rhen, graduating 2023, was able to gain a lot of unique experience with us this summer. She worked as our full time intern in the Advanced Printing Lab. This was a huge help as we had one of our busiest summers ever!

Rhen helped us daily with tasks that prepared for research trials and seminars like the Introduction to Flexograpy Workshop. This included learning plate making mounting, and basic operations of the Omet VaryFlex press.

Rhen was also able to network with industry professionals from companies like WestRock, Dupont, Pamarco and many others. She was able to work on projects and tasks alongside professionals from these companies to gain valuable insights to the Packaging industry.

Rhen was not our typical recruit for this position. She is a student in the Visual Arts major with an emphasis in drawing. We learned a lot from having her join our team. She will be a valuable employee for someone someday. Next semester she will still be helping the Sonoco Institute working as an intern for Nate Newsome designing 3D models and VR environments. We wish her the best in her future endeavors.
