Sonoco Institute (SI): What have you learned so far in your internship experience?

Advanced Print LabRemy: So far I have already learned so much! I have learned the general workings of the flexographic printing press as well as how to make and mount printing plates. I’m hoping to learn how to run the press from start to finish all by myself by the end of my experience.
Abby: Something that I have learned during my time here is how to make a printing plate for the press and how to properly clean the flexographic rollers.
Lauren: This is my second semester as one of the advanced print lab interns so I have learned a lot about the fundamentals of flexography.
Bella: So far, I have been learning about the importance of different ink and substrate use.
Ansley: So far I have learned how to make a printing plate, mount it, and run the press!

(SI): What is your favorite part about the Advanced Print Lab internship so far?

Remy: My favorite part about the Advanced Print Lab internship is getting to work with the other interns, making new friends, and always learning something new everyday!
Abby: My favorite part is probably being exposed to something I most likely wouldn’t have seen before and learning more about packaging science and different potential career opportunities.
Lauren: My favorite part has been running the press and understanding all of its inner workings.
Bella: My favorite part is being exposed to advanced machinery and coming to work everyday and learning something new.
Ansley: I really like getting the experience of running the press that I just learned about in class.

(SI): What has been your favorite part(s) of your Clemson experience?

Remy: My favorite parts of my Clemson experience would have to be my packaging engineering co-op in Milwaukee, WI this past semester as well as going abroad to Spain with Clemson this summer. Both were extremely formative experiences for me that I will never forget.
Bella: My favorite part of my Clemson experience has been studying abroad in London for Graphic Comm under Dr. Nona Woolbright. I got to take International Packaging and Design and it was overall an amazing experience.
Lauren: My favorite part has been meeting all of the graphic comm students and making a variety of pieces that I am very proud of.
Abby: I would say my favorite experience at Clemson has been finding something that I was passionate about in packaging science and I loved the Sean Kingston concert.
Ansley: My favorite part of my Clemson experience was going abroad to Pamplona this past summer. I got to learn a lot about sustainability and Spanish culture!
