On January 29th the Clemson University Fightin’ Tiger Battalion completed Operation Waterboy, the annual Combat Water Survival Training Lab (CWST). Operations took place at McHugh Natatorium located in the Fike Recreation center on Clemson University’s Campus. At lab, first (ML1) and second (ML2) year Cadets completed five aquatic events. The events included: three-meter drop, five-minute water tread, ten minute swim, equipment ditch, and fifteen-meter equipment swim. The three-meter drop is what many Cadets consider to be the most exciting. Here Cadets are blindfolded, handed a rubber rifle and jump from a three meter diving board into the dive pool. Another difficult event is the fifteen-meter equipment swim where Cadets are given a rubber rifle and swim from one side of the dive pool to another. This year, journalists from local news stations came to observe our annual event. The CWST lab is one of the Battalion’s most anticipated training events and, once again, lived up to expectations.
