JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of this classification is to perform routine engineering tasks, under the direct supervision of Registered Professional Engineer, in an effort to develop the skills necessary to provide professional level water and wastewater related engineering design.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Prepares applications and permits for engineering jobs
- Prepares a variety of maps, drawings, and documents required for projects as directed by Engineering staff
- Assists engineers in developing engineering designs, studies, and technical memos to ensure compliance with federal, state, regional and local regulations as they apply to the design and construction of improvements to meet our client’s needs
- Conducts feasibility and cost studies; develops engineering solutions to problems related to assigned projects; recommends alternative approaches, including the incorporation of new methods and materials
- Ensures that all applicable codes and permit conditions are met in assigned projects
- Collaborate with internal and external professional engineers, municipalities, utility companies and other entities to solve engineering problems
- Performs other related duties as required
