Clemson IE is pleased to announce that Nadeepa Wickramage has been hired as a tenure-track assistant professor at Albany State University (ASU). Wickramage, an industrial engineer specializing in supply chain management, will join ASU’s Department of Management in the College of Business this fall.
Wickramage is from Sri Lanka where he earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Moratuwa. He completed his graduate studies in Clemson’s Department of Industrial Engineering where he earned his master’s and doctoral degrees. His PhD dissertation entitled “Time Based Modeling of Storage Facility Operations,” was completed under the guidance of Dr. William Ferrell. His doctoral research focused on developing mathematical models and heuristics for routing methods in warehouses, which is practical because it helps enhance efficient supply chains and improves warehouse management and design.
When Wickramage arrives at ASU in August, his assignment will be to teach courses on Contemporary Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Warehousing, Global Logistics, Quantitative Methods for Managers, and Advanced Quality Management. He will lecture to undergraduates following a supply chain track and graduates pursuing an MBA in Supply Chain Management. Wickramage is particularly excited about the challenge of teaching business students because his perspective as an industrial engineer will provide an added dimension for business majors. In addition to his classroom-teaching role, he will also have the opportunity to further his research on warehouse routing methods. In the future Wickramage hopes to pursue research on humanitarian logistics.
