H-CORE at Clemson: A Milestone Summer for Undergraduate Research

The Department of Industrial Engineering celebrated a major milestone this summer with the launch of the first H-CORE (Human-Centered Operations Research and Engineering) REU program. Led by Dr. Thomas Sharkey, Dr. Jessica Aviles, and Dr. Emily Tucker, the 10-week experience brought undergraduates from across the country to Clemson for hands-on research, mentorship, and professional development. Students explored projects ranging from personalized training and assistive devices to workforce optimization and equitable park access, each focused on applying industrial engineering to improve human systems.

Clemson IE at IISE Conference 2025: Showcasing Innovation, Leadership, and Excellence

The Clemson Industrial Engineering department had a strong presence at the 2025 IISE Annual Conference and Expo. Our faculty, students, and staff contributed across the event through research presentations, leadership roles, student honors, and department sponsorship. The conference, which brings together leaders in the field of Industrial and Systems Engineering from around the world, offered a fantastic platform for our community to share their work and be recognized for their contributions.
