Clemson University’s Department of Industrial Engineering earned strong national recognition in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings, with top placements across its undergraduate, graduate and online graduate programs.

The department’s undergraduate program is ranked No. 12 among public universities, while the graduate program rose to No. 14 and the online master’s program climbed to No. 11 nationally.

Together, the rankings reflect the department’s continued momentum in preparing students to solve complex problems across industries, from advanced manufacturing and logistics to health care, human systems, operations research and supply chain management.

“Our rankings reflect the quality of our students, the dedication of our faculty and staff, and the impact of our alumni,” said Kevin Taaffe, chair of the Department of Industrial Engineering. “Clemson IE continues to grow its reputation as a place where students learn to improve systems, make data-driven decisions and lead in a wide range of careers.”

The department’s nationally recognized programs offer students a strong foundation in optimization, statistics, systems thinking, human factors, supply chain management and decision-making under uncertainty. Clemson IE graduates go on to careers in manufacturing, consulting, health care, technology, logistics, finance, energy and other fields where efficiency, innovation and people-centered problem-solving are essential.

The online master’s program rise to No. 11 also highlights Clemson IE’s growing reach among working professionals. Designed with flexibility in mind, the online program allows students to advance their education while continuing to build their careers.

The continued recognition across all three program areas reinforces the department’s commitment to excellence in teaching, research and student success.

“Our goal in not only to be highly ranked, but to provide an experience that prepares students to make meaningful contributions wherever they go,” Taaffe said. “This recognition is a reflection of the work happening every day across Clemson IE.”
