Clemson IE is preparing for the second year of its H-CORE undergraduate research program, offering students hands-on research experience in Summer 2026.

Clemson IE hosted one of the largest IISE Mid-Atlantic Regional Conferences in recent years, while students and faculty also earned national recognition.

The Department of Industrial Engineering celebrated a major milestone this summer with the launch of the first H-CORE (Human-Centered Operations Research and Engineering) REU program. Led by Dr. Thomas Sharkey, Dr. Jessica Aviles, and Dr. Emily Tucker, the 10-week experience brought undergraduates from across the country to Clemson for hands-on research, mentorship, and professional development. Students explored projects ranging from personalized training and assistive devices to workforce optimization and equitable park access, each focused on applying industrial engineering to improve human systems.
