With spring semester behind us and summer sessions underway, now’s the ideal time to give your Canvas course a fresh start for the next academic year!
Think of your course shell like your digital office: the cleaner it is, the easier it is for students to navigate and succeed. A well-organized online space supports student confidence, reduces inbox confusion, and aligns with accessibility best practices.
Here’s a quick Canvas Clean-Up checklist to tackle this summer:
- Fix or remove broken links to readings, media, or assignments
- Update dates and time-sensitive language in announcements or modules
- Streamline your navigation menu to avoid cognitive overload
- Check images for alt text and color contrast in visuals
- Test your Gradebook and SpeedGrader settings before new enrollments begin
Bonus tip: Clemson Online offers accessibility and course design consultations during the summer, so schedule one now to get ahead of Fall prep!
Canvas maintenance doesn’t have to be a chore. Treat summer as your “soft reset”—a chance to tidy up your digital classroom and make small changes that will save you time all year long.
