Summer isn’t just a time to recharge—it’s also the perfect window to refresh your teaching toolkit!

With fewer immediate deadlines and a lighter student load, the summertime offers a low-stress opportunity to explore new tools, experiment with course design strategies, and revisit ideas that were too ambitious to tackle mid-semester.
Not sure where to start? Here are a few easy ways to reboot your digital teaching toolbox:
- Explore a new engagement tool like Flip, Padlet, or Perusall to boost asynchronous interaction.
- Try building an interactive asynchronous activity (interactive video, drag-and-drop, or check-your-knowledge quiz) to make your content more active.
- Redesign one Canvas module using chunked content, icons, and headings for improved accessibility and student way-finding.
- Record a short welcome or feedback video using Kaltura—it’s great for creating connection, especially in online formats.
- Test out the Canvas Accessibility Checker in the Rich Content Editor to identify quick accessibility wins in existing materials.
Trying just one of these this summer can save you time, increase student engagement, and lay the groundwork for a more inclusive and effective Fall 2025 course.
Need help getting started? Clemson Online’s instructional development calendar is full of hands-on summer sessions—now’s the time to experiment, explore, and reboot.
