Fightin Tigers Conduct Drill and Ceremony From the Eyes of an ML3

September 14, 2015

On 3 Spetember, 2015, the Clemson University Fightin’ Tigers Blog 3had a visit from some of the Drill Sergeants out of United States Army Reserve 98th Training Division (IET).  The Drill Sergeants worked with the Freshman and Sophomore Cadets on marching as well as roper wear of the uniform and customs/courtesies.  On the other side of Bowman field, MSG Joe Medrano was working with the Junior and Senior Cadets on formations for PLT/CO/BN organizations.  CSM Henry was visiting from FT Bragg, NC and added a great deal of experience and does/don’ts for the ML3 and ML4 Cadet’s.  CDT McCall recalls the lab:

“As a newly minted ML III, the DNC lab was by far the most helpful lab I have received on the subject of drill and ceremony. Led by MSG Medrano, with assistance from CSM Henry, I learned practical applications of DNC. Some of the things I learned included how to conduct a pass in review, how to switch out NCOs and officers, and how to march a battalion. The lab really showed some real life applications of DNC that went beyond basic facing movements and marching. Although we did not master the subject of platoon and company size marching, the lab gave us a very solid foundation on which to build on. Bring in the ML Is and IIs at the end helped everyone get on the same page, so that when we executed the tasks in the First Friday Parade, they were flawless.”
