It is our pleasure to announce that Dr. Richard S. Miller of the Department of Mechanical Engineering has been elected to the grade of Associate Fellow in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) as of September 1, 2015. AIAA is a professional society for the aerospace and astronautics community hosting numerous conferences, books, and refereed journals. Their ranks range from Student Member, Associate Member, Member, Senior Member, Associate Fellow, to Fellow. Quoting from his official notification, “AIAA Associate Fellows are individuals of distinction who have made notable and valuable contributions to the arts, sciences, or technology of aeronautics or astronautics. Each year, only one for every 150 voting members are selected and approved. It is quite an honor!” Dr. Miller started as a Student Member in 1991 and has retained his membership ever since. His induction ceremony to the rank of Associate Member will be held at the annual AIAA SciTech meeting in San Diego, California on January 4, 2016.
