Driving Innovation: ERA Launches New Tech-Forward Initiatives

The Enterprise Research Administration (ERA) team is rolling out several new initiatives that highlight the critical role of technology and continuous advancement in supporting the Division of Research. These efforts aim to modernize systems, streamline operations, and enhance research infrastructure across the division.

Recent progress includes:

  • Supporting Clemson’s AI strategy with plans for internal AI-powered chatbots and a secure, GPU-based environment.
  • Advancing modernization of research systems: the InfoEd Agreements Module is nearly complete; updates to proposal intake forms and COI e-forms are underway; and fixes for InfoEd Profile issues are in progress.
  • DocuSign is being planned, tested and adopted across departments, and alternatives to iLab are under review to streamline workflows.
  • MLIMS and Mosaic Vivarium are being evaluated as alternatives to iLab, with the goal of reducing paperwork and enabling integration with PeopleSoft.
  • iThenticate has been upgraded to version 2.0 with AI detection.
  • Foundational Power BI models have been built to support dashboard development and reporting.
  • New intake forms on the ERA website have standardized the process to improve access to support. Wrike is being adopted by more teams to enhance project visibility, with training sessions completed and video resources now available on the ERA website.
