Memorial SMART Scholarship. All scholarship recipients receive full
tuition, annual stipends, internships, and guaranteed civilian employment

Research Opportunities 10-week paid research opportunities with the NASA DEVELOP National Program, open to current students, recent college graduates, and transitioning/early career professionals. Please pass this information, along with the attached flyer, to those who may be interested.
NASA DEVELOP projects focus on helping local, national, and international communities address their environmental concerns by utilizing data collected by NASA’s Earth-observing fleet of satellites. For the fall 2024 term, NASA DEVELOP will operate at six locations across the country at NASA Centers and other regional locations. This is a great opportunity for participants who are interested in practical applications of remote sensing and GIS, specifically in the field of Earth Science. Participants will work with NASA scientists, partner organizations, and science advisors to learn about the use of NASA Earth science data for use in water resources, disaster management, ecological conservation, and other applications to address environmental community concerns.
Responsibilities for participants include literature review,
data processing and analysis, and producing deliverables such as a technical
report, presentation, and video. Although previous GIS or remote sensing
knowledge is beneficial, no previous experience in Earth science research is
required to apply to NASA DEVELOP. This is a multi-disciplinary opportunity for
all those interested in Earth science, and applicants from a diversity of
backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Applicants must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be
able to work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. Days of the
week are flexible, but applicants should be able to commit to 20 – 29 hours per
week during the term. The position is paid on an hourly basis determined by
education level and working location.

provide information about our capacity building program and how potential

The South Carolina Chapter of the National Association of Environmental Professionals (NAEP-SC) is a nonprofit professional organization made up scientists, consultants, planners, regulators, researchers, educators, attorneys, and engineers in many environmental disciplines. The SC Chapter is preparing to award our second round of scholarships. Two $2,000 scholarships (one undergraduate and one graduate level) will be awarded to current full-time students in an environmental field of study. Department Of Energy is seeking recent graduates and energy professionals with a demonstrated interest in the clean energy transition to apply for the Clean Energy Innovator Fellowship. The SC Office of Regulatory Staff Energy Office (SCEO) is seeking a Fellow through this program. More information on the opportunity with the SCEO can be found on the Host Institution webpage.
Fellows selected for this exciting program will spend up to
two years supporting clean energy and grid resilience projects at host
institutions, which include electric cooperatives, grid operators, municipal
utilities, public utility commissions, state energy offices, and Tribal
entities. A competitive stipend is provided to support Fellows’ participation.
Candidates should have a demonstrated interest in clean energy solutions, and
those with diverse backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply.

Palmetto Clean Fuels coalition, an initiative of the State Energy Office within the SC Office of Regulatory Staff, seeks to hire an intern for the Summer 2024 semester. Funding for this internship is through the Clean Cities University Workforce Development Program (CCUWDP), an initiative of Clean Cities, a government-industry partnership sponsored by the US Department of Energy’s Vehicle Technologies Program. This internship will give students from a broad spectrum of fields (communications, public relations, business, marketing, engineering or environmental sciences, and others) the opportunity to grow public awareness and expand the markets of advanced vehicle technologies, alternative fuels, and practices that reduce the consumption of petroleum. We have numerous clean transportation initiatives underway and several on the horizon, making the summer semester an ideal time for meaningful work.
The successful intern will assist with existing efforts and future programs and initiatives such as those outlined below:
• Focus on Palmetto Clean Fuels tasks, opportunities, outreach, and research • Implementing the Plug in SC marketing campaign and initiative • Expanding coalition recruitment efforts and assisting with outreach events and meetings • Updating and developing success stories for newsletter and web content • Assisting with data collection, fleet analyses, and assistance to fleets • Providing research support for the electric vehicle and other alternative fuels
The successful intern must meet the minimum requirements:
• Eligibility: Only students who are currently enrolled in an educational institution and are an undergraduate or graduate student are eligible. Students who have recently graduated and have been out of school less than one year could also be considered eligible candidates, but the preference is to have a student currently enrolled in school. • Timeframe: Students must be available to work 30 hours/week for the summer semester (June 3rd – August 16th). • Have an interest in alternative fuel vehicles, clean energy, and stakeholder outreach. • Have exceptional written and oral skills and be must capable in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

The Symposium
Future Leaders in Chemical Engineering is a one and one-half day, all-expense paid research symposium at NC State University recognizing the top undergraduate researchers in chemical engineering in the United States. Chemical engineering researchers (and those in related fields) who are within one year of graduating are eligible to apply.
Winners
Awardees will receive a plaque and present their research at a research symposium held October 10 – 11, 2024 on Centennial Campus at NC State University in Raleigh, NC. The symposium will also include information about applying to graduate school and fellowships. Students must be present to be eligible.

Job duties:
Manage and provide technical assistance to multiple watershed planning and water quality improvement projects; review and document project progress, research and calculate load reductions, conduct site visits, review quarterly reports, and maintain regular communication with grantees. Analyze and interpret water quality data and communicate with diverse stakeholders.
Establish and maintain partnerships with stakeholders; interpret and advise on water quality data, research and evaluate sources of pollution and best management practices, review and edit draft watershed management documents, attend stakeholder meetings and outreach events, analyze and identify new partnerships and water quality improvement project opportunities.
Manage and coordinate the 208 Water Quality Management Plan grant; consult with the Councils of Government, prepare annual workplan and grant agreements, process invoices, collect data and prepare annual report.
