This Week: non-credit courses, posts you may have missed, and upcoming events
This week, Clemson Online held a workshop all about converting your for-credit courses to non-credit courses that you can offer to the public. Read on for our FAQ, then contact us to make your idea for a non-credit course a reality!
Q. What is a non-credit course?
A. These are courses available to the public that could fulfill grant proposals, deliver virtual conferences, or provide CEU credits to professionals.
Q. What do I need to know about creating a non-credit course?
A. You’ll need course objectives, learning content, assessment activities, etc., similar to your for-credit courses.
Q. How long does a non-credit course typically last?
A. They are short – anywhere between one week to 2 months is typical. This means your learning materials will need to be significantly truncated.
Q. What tools or software will I use to teach a non-credit course?
A. You will utilize the same Clemson systems you’re likely already familiar with, such as Canvas, Zoom, and Ensemble.
Q. What do I have to do to get started?
A. Clemson Online requires an MOU to outline the project requirements, so you will meet with a CO representative to discuss your course plans.
Q. Who do I contact about this terrific opportunity?
A. Email Clemson Online’s Associate Director of Online Development Lori Kinley: lmkinle@clemson.edu
