Expanded QM Opportunities

February 6, 2023

Announcing new programs to help improve online teaching!

Clemson Online is proud to announce new training opportunities for instructors this Spring! If you’ve been interested in developing online courses, learning best practices for teaching with Canvas, or the Quality Matters (QM) course review process, we have an expanded roster of course offerings starting this Spring just for you. If you’re preparing to teach online this summer, get enrolled right away – March will be here before you know it!

Instructors can choose from the options below:

  • Online Course Bootcamp – This course consists of 4 two-hour sessions for instructors who will be teaching a course online for the first time. Participants will meet over four weeks, one session per week, or can register for the Intensive option during Spring Break, which will be 4 sessions in one week.
  • Improving Your Online Course (IYOC) – A relaxed, two-week asynchronous online course in which participants will review the Essential Standards from the QM Rubric against their own course and prepare a course improvement plan. Participants will also schedule a one-hour consult with a Clemson Online staff member.
  • QM Essentials Review – A certified reviewer will conduct an abbreviated review using only the Essential Standards from the QM Rubric and provide recommendations for improvement; instructor will then make revisions based on these recommendations. This is a good option for instructors with a few years’ online teaching experience.
  • COFFEE: House Blend – Designed for instructors who need training in teaching with Canvas, this is a 4-week, self-paced online course. Participants will learn and apply effective principles for integrating Canvas into their face-to-face classroom. After completing the course, participants will schedule a consult with a Clemson Online staff member to review their Canvas site.

Please see the full descriptions and registration links at our Expanded Quality Matters Offerings website. You can find many more details there, including pre-requisites and information about including these trainings in faculty annual reports.

For questions about the courses or registration issues, please email Lori Kinley.
