Flip Ends Canvas Integration

Microsoft has recently announced the end of Flip’s integration with Canvas. Effective July 1st, 2024, Flip will no longer be available for download from mobile app stores, and its integration within Canvas will be discontinued. It is being fully absorbed into Microsoft Teams.

After July 1st, Flip’s website will transition to view-only mode, prohibiting users from creating new videos directly on the platform. By September 30th, 2024, Flip’s website and apps will be fully retired, requiring that users download and save their recorded videos elsewhere.

Clemson Online advises instructors to begin migrating their Flip videos to alternative platforms like Kaltura for continued efficiency and accessibility. If you use Flip for graded assignments, you will also want to consider alternatives for the fall semester and beyond.

For detailed instructions and support during this transition, educators are encouraged to read more about downloading videos from Flip. You can also watch a demonstration of these steps.

For additional assistance with downloading Flip videos or finding appropriate alternatives, please schedule a Canvas Course Development Consult. Our talented Digital Learning Strategists will help you take care of the rest!
