On October 15th, Digital Learning Strategist Millie Tullis facilitated a Canvas Accessibility Day presentation dedicated to digital accessibility in online courses. The presentation offers a succinct introduction to accessible course design and WCAG Standards and provides instructors with some basic instruction on how to craft accessible online courses.
Digital accessibility in online courses is essential for ensuring all students, regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities, have equal access to educational resources and opportunities. By designing accessible content and utilizing inclusive technologies, educators can create a more equitable learning environment, allowing students with disabilities to engage fully with course materials. Tullis then discusses some tips and tricks for getting started with digital accessibility, including questions instructors can ask themselves when designing an online course.
Overall, this session provides audiences with important information regarding the importance of digital accessibility and offers instructors helpful suggestions for how to get started with accessible course design.
