On September 5th, the Fightin’ Tiger Battalion conducted its annual Combat Water Survival Training lab. This training was comprised of several events including: a 3 meter drop, an equipment ditch, a 10 meter equipment swim, a 10 minute swim, and a 10 minute tread water event.
There was also an instructor on site to help teach several cadets how to swim and improve their confidence in the water. This training served the purpose of building the cadets’ confidence in the water with their equipment, as well as satisfying the commissioning requirement for scholarship cadets who received a ‘GO’ in each event. I am happy to say that two of our senior cadets who had not previously passed CWST did so this year, and met their commissioning requirement. Overall, there was a building of camaraderie and enthusiasm for the program as this is one of the more exciting events that cadets get to take part in.
