2024 Best Management Practices in Forage-Livestock Systems Workshop

On March 28th, we had the Best Management Practices for Forage-Livestock Systems workshop/in-service training at the Edisto REC in Blackville, SC. After the classroom portion in the morning, we had I (Liliane Silva) talking about grazing management, cool-season forage species, nutrient cycling and other topics. Dr. Mike Marshall provided research content for weed control in pastures. Dr. Carlos Garcia spoke about nutrient cycling and carbon sequestration on forage-livestock systems and dung beetles. Then, Dr. Matt Hersom spoke about hay quality and calculating hay needs.
I appreciate all the producers who came to participate in this event. We were able to interact well, and I appreciate the participation and interest. #foragedrops

Huge thanks to our sponsors, the SC New and Beginner Farmers Program and the SC SARE program! Without their support, we would not have been able to have conducted this event. #foragedrops
