Take a moment to reflect on your Fall 2022 semester and mark in your calendars the exciting teaching development opportunities we have in 2023!

Reflection on Fall ’22

Now that the semester has come to a close, we can breathe a sigh of relief and look forward to winter break plans. Whether your break involves relaxation, a turn to research, or whatever you need it to be, we congratulate you on completing another successful semester! We hope you will find space to reflect on this past semester as you take the time.

Find anywhere from ten minutes to a half-hour to sit quietly and reflect on the past semester. You might want paper and a pen to write things down, as well. This exercise is designed to get you thinking more deeply about your teaching in a calm, neutral environment. As you consider the four questions below, note your answers and any responses you might feel in your body.

  1. What successes stand out to you about your work from this semester? Was there a particular moment you had with a student or class?
  2. Did you try something new that worked?
  3. What aspect of your instruction feels exhausting?
  4. What areas of growth can you point to?

After you’ve considered the questions, do a little analysis of your answers:

  • Do you view this reflection or memory as a success? Why or why not?
  • How would you have preferred that situation to happen?
  • Can anything be done differently next semester based on these reflections?

If you are seeking professional development for your tenure or promotion file and you have taught a course either fully online or hybrid at least once, consider applying for the Spring 2023 QM Cohort!

You will receive training in applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR) to ensure quality online education, a digital badge from QM for successfully completing the APPQMR course, a $500 stipend, and more! Click the QM image (see Figure 2) to learn more.

Applications will close on January 30th, 2023.

Upcoming Events

Canvas Jumpstart Series

Bring your laptop and join us for a three-day workshop to prepare your Canvas course site for Spring 2023! If you are teaching and using Canvas in your course, click on the image (see Figure 3) to see the schedule, topics, and how to register.

This workshop series runs on January 5th, January 9th, and January 10th.

This hybrid event will be held in Cooper 416 (The Brown Room) and on Zoom.

All registrants will receive a link to the recorded events.
