On April 27th Professors Rodrigo Martinez-Duarte and Hugo Sanabria, from Mechanical Engineering and Physics, and Didier Rousseliere from Global Partnerships and Initiatives visited Tecnologico de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico. The purpose of the visit was to further a Memorandum of Understanding between these two institutions. Tecnologico de Monterrey is one of the top technical institutions in Latin America and the undergraduate Alma Mater of Drs. Martinez-Duarte and Sanabria. The initiative to partner comes as a result of ongoing collaboration between Clemson and Tecnologico faculty. Expected to be formalized in Fall 2015, this partnership would not only encompass professor to professor research, but also student and faculty exchange programs, and industry cooperation. Although the initial efforts are in Mechanical Engineering and Physics, the focus is to grow it across other disciplines within the universities.
During the visit, they also meet with the Associate Vice-Rector of Internationalization, faculty from Automotive Design, Physics, Mechanical, Chemical and Electrical Engineering and visited the Center of Biotechnology, the School of Medicine, as well as the Cervantine Library, a unique collection of works by Cervantes on the History of Mexico and Monterrey.
