On June 5, 2024, Clemson Online’s Millie Tullis hosted a Workshop Wednesday session dedicated to fostering community within online classroom spaces. The training explores the community of inquiry framework, which includes social, cognitive, and instructor presence.
Social presence relies on the establishment of affective expression, open communication, and group cohesion in the course. After discussing how to go about creating an engaging and comfortable classroom environment, Tullis also provides information on a few different online tools that can be used to support community building. Overall, this session provides audiences with valuable resources for online learning and sheds light on the importance of community within online classroom environments.
