Reintroducing Kaltura

Kaltura logo with a purple border.

Are you ready for Kaltura? If not, don’t worry! We want to reintroduce you to Kaltura and remind you that if you want to get up to speed on Clemson University’s new all-in-one video tool, we will have dedicated training sessions on its advanced features with our Kaltura admin very soon. Read on to learn more!

What is Kaltura?

  • Ensemble, the current video service, is being retired and Kaltura is its replacement! Kaltura will not only store your entire video library, but it’s also the main tool for creating, editing, and sharing videos in your classes and with your colleagues. Kaltura is fully integrated with Canvas and has a handy, fully-functional desktop client. You can even collaborate with others on videos and upload them to a shared collection for easy access
  • If you want a refresher on the basics of Kaltura, please check out this previous blog post where you can quickly learn about some of the basic functionality of Kaltura. Read on to learn more about some of the advanced features and what our special Kaltura Advanced I and Advanced II trainings will offer.

What are the Advanced features?

  • Integrating quizzes in your Kaltura Videos – when editing a video, you can set the video to automatically pause at any time and ask your learners multiple-choice, true/false, or open-ended  questions. These knowledge checks make a passive activity, such as viewing a recorded lecture, into an active learning opportunity where learners must engage with the material. These quizzes can also integrate with Canvas!
  • Lots of options – you can set several options on these quizzes, including a customizable welcome message to alert learners to the upcoming quiz.
  • Analytics – you can check your learners’ mastery of the content before it counts on an exam, so you can intervene if your learners aren’t quite getting the most out of your videos.

How can I learn more?
