Online Learning Consortium (OLC) Workshop Sponsorship for Faculty for Fall 2019

August 19, 2019

Clemson Online seeks to support faculty members who would like to develop their online teaching with a sponsorship to an OLC workshop of their choice.

“I have taken a couple of OLC workshops over the years and have found them to be well-organized and quite informative. Even as an experienced instructional designer and online educator, there is always something new to learn coupled with a healthy dose of reminders and refreshers.” – Todd Kane, Digital Learning Strategist with Clemson Online

Note that this sponsorship does not apply to the longer multi-week certificate programs, e.g., the Online Teaching Certificate. All workshops are administered online.

Eligibility Criteria

  • All full-time faculty members are eligible to apply, regardless of academic rank.
  • Applicant must have taught at least one online, for-credit course in the previous year or be planning to teach an online credit course in the upcoming year.
  • At this time, non-teaching staff are not eligible to apply.

Maximum Award

The maximum award is $270 per faculty member. Payment will be made directly to the Online Learning Consortium for your registration.

Application Instructions

Apply by completing the Application for Online Learning Consortium (OLC) Workshop Sponsorship for Faculty (link: https://forms.gle/A9kDvNR4hehuAFQG9). Applications must be submitted by September 6, 2019.

Applicants will be asked to briefly explain why they are interested in the workshop they’ve selected and how they plan to share what they learned with their colleagues.

Award Notification and Details

Seven applicants will be selected for sponsorship by a panel of faculty and Clemson Online staff based on how the applicant plans to utilize information learned and plans for dissemination. Applicants will be notified of their award status by September 16, 2019.

After the Workshop

Applicants who receive the Online Learning Consortium workshop sponsorship will be asked to submit a reflection within 30 days of completing the workshop. The reflection should answer the following questions:

  • What tools, skills, knowledge, and/or professional connections did you gain as from participating in this workshop?
  • How will you incorporate what you learned in the workshop into your teaching practice?

Everyone who completes the workshop will be encouraged to share what they’ve learned via a faculty development session, a blog post on the topic for the Clemson Online Blog, or other means.
