Graduate students Shuangrong Yuan and Ning Yuan attended the American Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB) national meeting in Minneapolis, MN on July 19-23. Shuangrong Yuan received an ASPB student travel grant to present her research in a poster. Ning Yuan was invited to give an oral presentation about his research.

Rick Boyles received the SC Rural Rehabilitation Fellowship for 2015-2016.

Dr. Julia Frugoli was named Alumni Distinguished Professor at Clemson’s recent academic convocation.

Graduate students Rick Boyles, Zach Brenton, Grace Kisirkoi, William Poehlman, and Stephen Nowak received the Wade Stackhouse Graduate Fellowship for 2015-16.

Ashley Crook and Stephen Nowak received travel grants from the American Society of Plant Biology and presented their research at the ASPB national meeting in Minneapolis July 19-23.

Jacquelyn Evans, Ph.D. student in the Clark laboratory, gave a talk at The 8th International Conference on Advances in Canine and Feline Genomics and Inherited Disease in Cambridge, UK on June 24th. Jacquelyn was a Best Student Abstract winner.

Dr. Satyanarayana (‘Satya’) Lagishetty in Dr. Kerry Smith’s lab presented a talk entitled “Regulation of Cryptococcus neoformans XFP1 Activity by Phosphorylation of Serine-454” at the 25th Molecular Parasitology/Vector Biology Symposium (University of Georgia, Athens, GA) on April 28th. He has also presented his research in the Clemson University Postdoctoral Seminar Series on May 27th and presented a poster on his work at the 6th Southeast Enzyme Conference, (Georgia State University, Atlanta, GA) on April 11th. Congratulations to Satya on his presentations.

Amber Hackler, a Biochemistry major who graduated on May 8, was recognized at the graduation ceremony with the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award, one of two given out at Clemson University to “…individuals who possess the characteristics of heart, mind, and conduct as evince a spirit of love for and helpfulness to the men and women.” Amber was also recognized with the Faculty Scholarship Award, which is made to the member or members of the graduating class with the highest scholastic achievement.
