Clemson Online is proud to announce the official Quality Matters (QM) certification of two courses this fall: English 3040 (Business Writing) taught by Lecturer Seth McKelvey and Physics 2000 (Physics for Everyone) taught by Senior Lecturer Pooja Puneet. To achieve this certification, courses must meet the eight expectations outlined in the QM rubric including:
Courses are first reviewed by Clemson Online before being sent out for an official review. Both courses will be listed in the Quality Matters directory of certified courses.
Dr. McKelvey’s course, Business Writing, was reviewed by Digital Learning Manager Sharyn Emery, Ph.D., and Associate Director of Online Development Lori Kinney, Ph.D. He notes, “The entire Quality Matters process was productive, and it’s really satisfying to see how my course has improved on clear, explicit criteria. Everyone I worked with throughout the review was encouraging and supportive while offering insightful and concrete feedback—much of which I’ve been applying not only to this course but across all my teaching.”
Dr. Puneet notes, “I teach large introductory Physics courses to a diverse student population both in-person and online. I believe that the QM certification course has helped me understand and appreciate various aspects of the online and blended course design from a learner-centered perspective. The QM rubric is enriched with best practice and presents a perfect guideline for developing accessible course materials and assessments for diverse learners.” Physics for Everyone was reviewed by Digital Learning Strategist Leslie Fuller, Ph.D., and Digital Learning Strategist, James Butler.
