Using InDesign to Create QR Codes

QR codes come in handy when you want to direct someone to a particular webpage or point them to specific information.

It is very easy to create custom QR codes in InDesign. The basic steps are outlined below:

  1. With a document open in InDesign, select the Object menuHGIC QR Code
  2. Choose Generate QR Code
  3. On the Content tab, select the Type of code you want to generate (Web Hyperlink, Plain Text, Text Message, Email or Business Card)
  4. On the Color tab, select your desired color (If you have brand color swatches loaded, they will display here as well.)
  5. Click OK.
  6. You will see a mini QR code loaded into your cursor, click and drag your cursor to your desired size and let go.

If you would like to edit your code, either to change the link or color:

  1. Select the Object menu
  2. Choose Edit QR Code
  3. Make your desired changes on the Content and/or Color tabs
  4. Click OK.
