ME students were a big part of Clemson’s win in the 2014 Collegiate Water Ski Nationals

Clemson’s Water Ski Team competed at the 2014 Collegiate Water Ski Nationals hosted at Bennett’s Water Ski School in Zachary, Louisiana from October 16th-18th. The competition drew 22 of the nation’s best ski teams for one final competition of the year. Clemson’s team won D2 Nationals, bringing home its second National Championship in the last three years.

Competition involves slalom skiing, trick skiing, and jump skiing. Although the Men’s and Women’s Team compete separately, the team score is the sum of both the Men’s and Women’s team scores. The team is made up of students of all ages and from all parts of the country. This year, the team was composed of many engineers. There were seven Mechanical Engineers on the 15 person team. These Mechanical engineers were:

  • Brandon Traver, Senior Mechanical Engineer from Hilton Head, South Carolina
  • Michael Bates, Senior Mechanical Engineer from Alpharetta, Georgia
  • Paul Kulig, Junior Mechanical Engineer from Morrison, Colorado
  • Tom Fitzgerald, Junior Mechanical Engineer from Atlanta, Georgia
  • Glenn Barnes, Sophomore Mechanical Engineer from North Augusta, South Carolina
  • Wyatt Haines,  Sophomore Mechanical Engineer from Avon, Connecticut
  • Ben Synoground, Freshmen Engineer from Kenmore, Washington
