Get Ready for Summer 2024

January 30, 2024

Do you plan to teach this summer? Clemson Online is proud to announce this year’s Summer teaching initiative. We have timely opportunities for instructors to gain experience in online course creation, teaching with Canvas, and the Quality Matters course improvement process.

It takes time and attention to prepare an online course, and our training opportunities are geared to lead you through building or improving your course this spring so that it will all be ready to go for the summer.

If you are planning a new course or transitioning a face-to-face one online, check out Building Your Course in Canvas (BYCC). It takes place over four days (M-Th) during Spring Break from 9-11am over Zoom. We will discuss best practices and pedagogical strategies for teaching online and also lead you through creating your course in Canvas. Register here for BYCC.

If you have previously taught the same online course, you may be interested in Improving Your Online Course (IYOC). This workshop is created by Quality Matters (QM) and facilitated by Clemson Online staff. Participants review their own course according to the QM Rubric and create a course-improvement plan. Register for the three-week asynchronous session that starts March 28 (IYOC) or the two-week asynchronous session that starts  April 25 (IYOC) .

For those of you teaching in person with Canvas, sign up for COFFEE: House Blend. This ongoing, self-paced course helps you to learn and apply effective principles for integrating Canvas into the F2F classroom, including setting up a course site and creating active learning opportunities. Participants will complete assigned learning tasks in one of their own course sites, to be reviewed by the facilitator.
