This session will explore how STEM learning ecosystems function, the role SCCMS plays in fostering collaboration, and how students, educators, and community members can get involved. Attendees will also learn about a recent partnership with the Smithsonian Science Education Center and the restyle of the study, showcasing new ways to engage with STEM education. From participating in statewide STEM initiatives to leveraging resources and networking opportunities, attendees will gain actionable insights into how they can contribute to strengthening STEM education in South Carolina. Bio: Katherine Mulholland serves as the Executive Director of the South Carolina Coalition for Mathematics and Science (SCCMS), founded by BMW Manufacturing Co., DuPont, Michelin North America, and Duke Energy, and hosted by the College of Engineering, Computing, and Applied Sciences at Clemson University. In her role as Executive Director, she leads initiatives aimed at expanding STEM opportunities for educators and students across South Carolina. Among the key initiatives managed by SCCMS are the S2TEM Centers SC, a statewide support network focused on economic and workforce development through STEM education, and the iMAGINE STEAM Festivals, which are designed to inspire excitement and engagement in STEM fields among students and the wider community. Throughout her career in STEM outreach and education, Katherine has applied her instructional expertise across a wide range of settings, working with students from elementary through high school, as well as university students and adult learners. Katherine is a doctoral candidate in the Learning Sciences and holds a bachelor’s in genetics and a certificate in Nonprofit Leadership, all from Clemson University.
