ESED Ph.D. candidate Gustavo Moran was invited as a speaker at the “Congreso Nacional de Ciencias Básicas 2016” (National Conference of Basic Sciences) held at the Instituto Tecnologico de Durango, México on May 26, 2016. Gustavo gave a 45 minute presentation, “Factors that could affect math learning,” to approximately 600 engineering students and professors at the conference. Gustavo was teaching mathematics as a faculty at the Instituto Tecnologico de Durango, the premier engineering university in the state of Durango, before coming to Clemson to start a PhD in the ESED department. He is supported through a CONACYT fellowship from the Mexican government, and upon completion of his Ph.D., he plans to return to Mexico to establish an engineering education research program in Durango.
