The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Clemson University (a Carnegie RI Research University) invites applications for a faculty position in astrophysics at the tenure-track Assistant Professor or higher level to begin August 15, 2019.

Currently, our department has strong research efforts in the areas of high-energy astrophysics, time-domain and multi-messenger astronomy, nucleosynthesis, and star & planet formation. Our search will be primarily focused on candidates with research interests in time-domain and multi-messenger astrophysics. However, applications from outstanding candidates in all areas, including computational astrophysics and observations are encouraged. We seek someone who can complement and enhance the research activities of the department.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in Physics, Astronomy, or closely related field.

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Clemson University (a Carnegie RI Research University) seeks candidates to fill a tenure-track faculty position in computational condensed matter physics or computational atomic and molecular physics at the Assistant Professor or higher level to begin on August 15, 2019. Exceptional candidates from related fields of computational physics are also encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have access to the Palmetto Cluster, Clemson University’s high-performance computing (HPC) resource.

The Department of Physics and Astronomy has research programs in condensed matter physics, atomic and molecular physics, atmospheric physics, biophysics, and astronomy; additional information can be found at http://physics.clemson.edu.
