The indulgent season is upon us. Hopefully you and your kiddos haven’t eaten all the Halloween candy already! Maybe it’s time to plan for that “Turkey Trot” before your Thanksgiving feast! Let’s be real though, who doesn’t celebrate the holidays with a few too many treats? Life’s all about balance though. We just don’t want to be treating ourselves to too many unhealthy choices too often.
Lesson 3 of the “Choose Health: Food, Fun, and Fitness” program (through the Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program) is titled: “Read It Before You Eat It.” During this lesson, students learned to read Nutrition Facts Labels. We also focused on serving sizes and portion control. So, when that pumpkin pie comes around, enjoy a slice… just don’t eat the whole pie!

The female students pictured above have chosen sweet snacks and put them in order from least to greatest amount of sugar. The male students pictured below put their salty snacks in order from least to greatest amount of fat.
