MEET OUR NEW RURAL HEALTH AND NUTRITION EXTENSION AGENT

Jacqueline Gallagher, Serving Colleton and Hampton Counties

Welcome to Extension Services

Jacqueline (Jackie) Gallagher is a native of Colleton County. After graduating from Walterboro High School, she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in History from Charleston Southern University, a Master of Arts in Teaching in Elementary Education from the College of Charleston, and a Master of Education in Interdisciplinary STEM Education from the Citadel. She served as a teacher in Hampton County for over nine years and worked as a Reference Librarian and Adult Program Coordinator at the Colleton County Memorial Library. During her time at the library, she realized that she enjoyed working with older adults and developing programming that was engaging and relevant to their lives.

As the Rural Health Agent for Colleton and Hampton Counties, Jackie will conduct virtual, in-person, and hybrid programs that are either evidence-based or practice-tested. Some programs Jackie or another Rural Health team member offers include the Health Extension for Diabetes (available in English or Spanish) and Know Diabetes by Heart. The Rural Health and Nutrition also offers other programs to enhance healthy lifestyles, such as WalkSC, Yoga for Everybody, Know Diabetes by Heart, and Stirring Up Healthy Cooking.

Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service offers its programs to people of all ages, regardless of race, color, gender, religion, national origin, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital or family status, and is an equal opportunity employer.
