Fall is the time of year that SC Livestock 4-H participants prepare for all year long. It is no different for many members of Clarendon County’s 4-H Animals and Outdoors Livestock Club. Youth that participates in 4-H livestock projects must raise and care for a project animal, complete a detailed record book about their project animal, and participate in showmanship competitions around the state with a project animal that they spend time training all summer long.
Clarendon County has several youths, aged 6-14, participating in poultry and rabbit shows at local fairs in the area, including the SC State Fair. There are 4 youth participating in area Rabbit shows Blake White, Kourtney Brown, Emma Anderson, and Blake Proffit. These members will be participating in the Rabbit Showmanship contest at the Eastern Carolina Agriculture Fair in Florence, SC. Blake White and Blake Proffit will participate in the Rabbit Show at the SC State Fair. Blake Proffit will also be taking his rabbit to the Orangeburg County Fair and Blake White is taking his rabbit to the Coastal Carolina Fair. The 5 youth participating in area poultry shows include Blake Proffit, Irelynn Connors, Emma Gifford, Anna Tisdale, and Meg McCaskill. They will be participating in the Poultry Showmanship Contest at the Eastern Carolina Fair. Blake Proffit and Emma Gifford will participate in the Rabbit Show at the Orangeburg County Fair. Blake Proffit will be taking his chicken to the SC State Fair and Irelynn Connors plans to take hers to the Coastal Carolina Fair.
