Bamberg County Clemson Extension
Bamberg County 4-H’er Lawson Weilnau won the South Carolina 4-H Presidential Tray Award and National 4-H Conference Award. Both awards include scholarships. National Conference also includes a trip to Washington D.C. in 2026. State 4-H Awards are judged on a 4-H member’s portfolio, resume, cover letter and interview.


4-H’ers, volunteers, and agents spent four days at Clemson University for State 4-H Congress “Beyond our Time” July 8th -11th. Delegates participated in professional development workshops, service projects, shooting range, campus tours, and project awards. Three delegates from Bamberg attended: Lawson Weilnau, Paige Ulmer, and Reace Hutto. Lawson Weilnau will serve a third term on State 4-H Teen Council as a Savannah Valley Representative. State Teen Council is responsible for planning, organizing and leading the four-day event.

The 4-H’ers who qualify for State 4-H Congress are Senior 4-H Members between the ages of 14 and 19 who have demonstrated leadership and participated in county events. County staff and volunteers accompanied them on campus. The Congress agenda provides participants an opportunity to meet other youth through workshops and activities.
