Shooting Sports and Natural Resources taught at 4-H Wild at Webb Camp

Shannon Herndon, Senior Extension 4-H Agent

Two-thirds of US households have firearms. Youth need to understand firearm safety and how to use firearms correctly. South Carolina 4-H and SC Department of Natural Resources have partnered to offer a weeklong shooting sports and natural resources program held at the Webb Wildlife Center in Garnett, SC, for nineteen years. Individuals are supervised by certified 4-H Instructors and SCDNR with shotgun, rifle, and archery at various ranges.

Since 2006, over 450 youth have attended the camp, many returning multiple years. Along with the shooting range experience, youth experience waterfowl, fisheries, falconry, reptiles, entomology, forestry, birding, trapping, retriever demonstrations or stream assessment from some of the best instructors in the state. Camp is open to 4-H members ages 10-13. For more information contact Lisa Terry in the Hampton Office at 803-943-3427 or lisat@clemson.edu
