4-H Wild at Webb Camp Teaches Life Skills

Seven 4-H’ers from Bamberg County attended Wild at Webb Camp at SCDNR Webb Wildlife Center in Garnett, SC, the week of June 10-14. Lawson Weilnau, Brady Moody, and Paige Ulmer served as CITs (Counselors in Training), washing water bottles, serving meals, and assisting with programs during the week. Youth spent the week on the shooting range with shotguns, rifles, archery, pistols, and muzzleloaders. They learned about bat biology, banded doves, set traps, built bat houses, camouflaged dove buckets, canoed, and went on a field trip to Hunting Island. Rob Hurst won the Highest Overall in combined shotgun, rifle, and archery, and Jules Hurst won second in Archery. Campers are Hampton Jowers, Thomas Hay, Rob and Jules Hurst. Eighteen campers from South Carolina attended the camp.

4-H Wild at Webb Camp is a weeklong shooting sports and natural resources program. Individuals are supervised by certified 4-H Instructors and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources with shotgun, rifle, and archery at various ranges. Youth will explore and learn about wildlife and natural resources from some of the best instructors in the state.
