Bamberg County 4-H Wins Top Awards

Alayna Weilnau is a 2024 South Carolina 4-H Presidential Tray Winner. Lawson Weilnau is a state winner with his 4-H Portfolio and won a trip to National 4-H Congress held in November. Both Weilnaus served on State 4-H Teen Council, responsible for planning, organizing and leading statewide events.

The Weilnaus participate in poultry and swine projects where they have won multiple Grand and Reserve Grand Champion titles. Both have pursued leadership roles in the Pinckney Leadership Programs and served on State 4-H Teen Council. They share their 4-H experiences and knowledge at clinics, workshops and club meetings.

The 4-H Presidential Trays are the highest honor a South Carolina 4-H’er can earn. With more than 6.8 million youth in 4-H nationwide, it is one of the country’s most diverse organizations. Focused initially on agricultural projects, 4-H has expanded to support the needs and interests of young people into the 21st century. The 4-H program crosses all economic, racial and social barriers.
