Over eighty 4-H’ers, volunteers, and agents spent four days at Clemson University for State 4-H Congress “Stars Shine Brighter Together” July 9-12. Delegates participated in professional development workshops, service projects, shooting range, campus tours, and project awards. Five delegates from Bamberg attended: Alayna Weilnau, Lawson Weilnau, Paige Ulmer, Reace Hutto and Caroline Bishop. Lawson Weilnau is a state winner with his 4-H Portfolio and won a trip to National 4-H Congress held in November. Alayna Weilnau won the top 4-H Award, Presidential Tray! Alayna and Lawson Weilnau served on State 4-H Teen Council, responsible for planning, organizing and leading the four-day event.

The 4-H’ers who qualify for State 4-H Congress are Senior 4-H Members between the ages of 14 and 19 who have demonstrated leadership and participated in county events. County staff and volunteers accompanied them on campus. The Congress agenda allows participants to meet other youth through workshops and activities.
