“Agricultural Agent Jonathan Croft serves Orangeburg, Dorchester, and Berkeley counties. Last week, as part of a Clemson Extension team setting up Corn Variety Test Plots, he helped get the Orangeburg plot started. Located across the state, these Corn Variety Test Plots will be evaluated throughout the growing season. Extension Agents will use results from the County Corn Variety plots to help growers select corn varieties most suitable for their individual areas.
There are four irrigated plots and four dryland plots. The plot in Orangeburg County is dryland. Varieties selected for the trial are based on preset test protocols. All of the plots will have the same varieties planted to compare them across the state. “
