Christiana Huss, Urban Horticulture Agent and Master Gardener Coordinator
Please welcome Christiana Huss as the new Urban Horticulture agent and Master Gardener Coordinator for Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester Counties. Christiana will be teaching the Master Gardener course this Fall to train the next class of horticulture volunteers. Applications will begin in May of 2026. Two Home Horticulture Foundations courses are now open for enrollment. These courses offer several hours of online content paired with an optional field day. These courses are directed towards beginner gardeners, with no previous knowledge necessary! The two courses being offered are:
“Lawns and Landscapes” begins on February 2nd. Topics include:

- South Carolina Soils & Climate
- Pests of South Carolina
- South Carolina Lawns and Maintenance
- Weed Management in Southern Lawns
- Annuals and Perennials for South Carolina
- South Carolina Trees and Shrubs
- Landscape Design
- Weather-Wise Gardening: A South Carolina Guide to Resilient Landscapes
