Beaufort Junior Leadership Program Kicked Off The 2024-2025 Year

Meghan Barkley, 4-H Youth Development Agent

The fourth class of Beaufort Junior Leadership kicked off the 24-25 year in August with orientation.  Over the past four years, over 300 youth volunteer hours have been conducted.  This year’s class will continue volunteer service by participating in a group project as well as completing individual volunteer service hours.  Volunteer projects have included beach cleanups, volunteering with CAPA, mentoring younger youth, and more.

Beaufort Junior Leadership is a program offered by Clemson University Cooperative Extension that is dedicated to developing high school Sophomores and Juniors into young leaders. This program provides training in the areas of personal and leadership development, networking, communication, financial management, and civic engagement. Youth participate in hands-on projects that develop essential life skills along with learning by example from local community members. Students receive special permission from their schools to meet once a month during the school day to focus on a variety of leadership projects using a learn-by-doing approach to help them gain the knowledge and skills to be responsible, productive and contributing members of our community.

Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service offers its programs to people of all ages, regardless of race, color, gender, religion, national origin, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital or family status and is an equal opportunity employer.
