Christi Kirkland is the Administrative Assistant for Allendale County Clemson Extension. She has been in this position for two years, starting February 1, 2019.
Christi graduated from USC Salkehatchie in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a major in business and a minor in psychology. She worked in various accounting positions until making a career as Executive Secretary at Clariant Corporation, a Chemical plant in Martin, SC, where she worked for 15 years. Christi also worked for the Department of Social Services for five years until finding her niche at Allendale Clemson Extension.
Christi has a background in accounting and an eye for detail, giving her a good foundation for reconciling accounts and correcting errors. Christi plays a significant role in the day-to-day operating of the Allendale Clemson Extension Office. She answers phone calls, takes in soil samples greets clients as required. She is responsible for all financial duties for the office.
Christi enjoys working with the people of Allendale County and especially the farming community.
One of the most memorable experiences while working with Clemson Extension was when one of the larger farmers in the county sent an email to Dr. Thomas Dobbins, Director of Extension, praising Allendale Extension’s service. Admin Christi Kirkland and County Agent Joe Varn exceeded expectations in getting soil samples out on a timely basis during the COVID-19 pandemic.
