Do you have a favorite fruit or vegetable? Did you know that consuming fruits and vegetables has many great benefits? A diet rich in vegetables and fruits can lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, and prevent some types of cancer. Eating fresh fruits and vegetables daily is one of the most important things you can do for your health. While visiting Hawaii, I had the opportunity to attend the Hilo Farmers Market. Some of the fruits and vegetables I tried for the first time, and others I had never heard of before.

Here are a few quick tips to include more fruits and vegetables daily.
- Grab and go.
Wash your fruit and vegetables and place them in a bowl, or store chopped fruits and vegetables in the refrigerator, so they are ready to eat. Place them where you can see them easily for a quick snack or if you want something sweet.
2. Choose something new.
Explore the produce aisle and try something new. Variety and color are key to a healthy diet. Whether you are near or far, it’s a great time to explore options you have never seen or tried before.
3. Make it a meal.
Try cooking new recipes that include more vegetables. Salads, soups, and stir-fries are just a few ideas for increasing the number of tasty vegetables in your meals.
