Middle school is an important period for adolescents to establish healthy habits that will last a lifetime. It promotes optimal growth and development by allowing youth to become more independent and assist with healthier eating practices. Students at Hanahan Middle School demonstrate exactly that!

Mrs. Hill, Hanahan Middle School’s health teacher, and I have been working together for many years to educate students on better practices and remind them that they have a choice. Lessons presented assist learners in making necessary modifications for greater health, but it does not stop there; Ms. Hill integrates what children learn with other pertinent health issues to increase their chances of better health.

Here is what’s being shared about the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP). One comment shared by a HHM guidance counselor and her 6th grade student and the other comment is shared by a HHM 7th – grade teacher.
